‘My Favourite Places to Photograph’ will be the theme of the next few articles I will post to my blog. I’ll start with our one and only trip to Europe, a river cruise with Scenic Cruises.
We were lucky with this cruise as it occurred in Novermber of 2019, just before Covid 19 disrupted almost everyone’s daily life.
Before the cruise began we spent 3 days in Budapest, Hungary. Similarly, we spent 3 days in Amsterdam, Netherlands at the conclusion of the cruise. Doing so afforded us the opportunity to closely wander about each city’s central core, take tours and of course make photographs.
Christmas Markets was the theme of our cruise. At every stop we found booths offering unique ornaments, collectibles and amazing food. Christmas decorations, garland trees and hanging lights were everywhere.
The 15 day voyage along the Danube and Rhine rivers was amazing. The on board hospitality which was fabulous. The villages, small towns and major cites we visited offered amazing photographic opportunities.
The images below are but a few of the many hundreds I made on our river cruise. This selection could easily be replaced with another. With all of the images I made during this cruise I tried to capture the culture, ambiance , history and colour of the land and city scapes.
Europe, as Ellen and I viewed it on our river cruise, is high on my list of favourite places to visit and photograph. And we are making a return visit. As you read this article and examine my images we will be flying to Vancouver to catch a Sunday Iceland Air flight to Copenhagen via Reykjavik, Iceland.
We’ll spend three days touring Copenhagen then embarking on an ocean cruise with Oceania Cruises visiting a variety of ports including Oslo, London, Gothenburg and Bruges, finishing up in Amsterdam. It will be a great experience.
